Students in China's Rural Areas Still Not Getting Enough to Eat, Researchers Say

(Beijing) – Two-thirds of schools in poor rural areas cannot provide students with meat dishes every day because of financial constraints, resent research has found, four years after the central government launched a program to pay for school meals.

A research report published on August 20 by the China Development Research Foundation, an organization affiliated with the cabinet's Research Development Center, said most of the students in rural areas it surveyed do not get the nutrition and protein needed to grow up healthy.
