Wealth Gap between Cities, Rural Areas Narrows, Report Says

(Beijing) – The income gap between China's cities and countryside shrank over a recent seven-year period, a recent report says, but inequality within urban and rural areas widened.

The report used research by the Chinese Household Income Project (CHIP), which tracked the distribution of personal income in the country by sampling 190,000 households in 15 provinces last year. Li Shi, the executive dean of CHIP, released the report at a forum on September 11.
