Progress at Universities Requires Outside Help, College President Says

(Beijing) – Partnering with foreign universities can help improve the management of China's colleges and give academics greater freedom, the head of a joint venture university says.

Liu Jingnan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Duke Kunshan University (DKU) in the eastern province of Jiangsu, said professors, rather than government officials, should have a major say in how universities are run.
