(Beijing) – The son and wife of China's disgraced domestic security czar Zhou Yongkang have each been found guilty of taking bribes and sentenced to prison. This is the latest in a series of prosecutions in a massive graft web linked to Zhou.
On June 15, Zhou Yongkang's son, 44-year-old businessman Zhou Bin, was given a prison term of 18 years and fined 350 million yuan, or US$ 53 million, by Yichang City People's Intermediate Court in central province of Hubei. He was charged with using his father's position to gain business favors and taking more than 200 million yuan, or US$ 30 million, in bribes in concert with his father and others. He was also found guilty of trading illegal goods and violating market rules, according to the state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV).
