New Calculation Method Pushes Up Size of China's Economy in 2015 by 1.3 Pct

(Beijing) – China has added expenses on research and development activities into how it calculates the size of the national economy, pushing up GDP estimates for 2015 by 1.3 percent, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.
The revision means the GDP of the world's second largest economy stood at 68.5 trillion yuan, or US$10.2 trillion, in 2015 rather than 67.8 trillion yuan, according to the NBS announcement on July 5. The statement comes before the government releases second quarter GDP data on July 15.
