Governments, Businesses Consider Cross-Country Gas Pipeline

(Beijing) – Local governments and businesses along the Yangtze River may invest in a cross-country natural gas pipeline owned by energy giant China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., or Sinopec, the company's president said.

Dai Houliang said on Aug. 29 that "a long list" of local governments and companies up and down the river are interested in a stake in a pipeline that would connect several natural gas fields in the southwestern province of Sichuan to cities on the east coast.
