(Beijing) — China’s top economic planner has approved a high-speed rail project connecting Beijing’s Tongzhou district, which is slated to become the new home to most city government agencies, and an industrial hub in bordering Hebei province.

The Jingtang Intercity Railway Co. Ltd. has gained approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to build the 148.7-km rail project that will link Tongzhou and the city of Tangshan, according to a statement posted on the NDRC’s website Monday. The trains will travel at speeds of up to 350 kph on some sections of the railway.
