Hebei, Tianjin Handed Control of Urban Planning amid Beijing's Push to Decentralize

(Beijing) — The central government is acting to curb housing development in parts of the northern province of Hebei and the municipality of Tianjin amid a housing boom in the areas bordering Beijing, according to a new government document.

The document, Recommendations on Control of Urban Planning and Development in the Border Areas, was released on Wednesday by seven central government agencies, including the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
