Regulator Considers Easing Restrictions on Stock Index Futures

(Beijing) — China's securities regulator is considering relaxing emergency restrictions on short selling of stock index futures as traders complain that the restrictions have starved the market of liquidity, a source close to the regulator said.

Adjustments are likely to start with "a lower requirement for margin deposits and a gradual increase in the amount of positions allowed," the source said.
