Editorial: ‘Right Approach’ Must Be Found to Curb Smog
In mid-December, over 100 Chinese cities were choked by one of the most serious bouts of air pollution seen so far this year. For a week starting Dec. 16, about one-fifth of all territories in northern, central and eastern China were enveloped by heavy smog, forcing more than 20 cities to issue the highest-level warning — a red alert, for toxic smog — and suspend schools, halt industrial production and slash the number of vehicles on roads to improve air quality.
