Insurance company Ping An has debuted a new product that is raising eyebrows: the first-ever insurance for sudden death caused by sleep deprivation, state-run stcn.com reported Tuesday.
Beneficiaries would receive reimbursements of up to 200,000 yuan (over $28,000) for a sudden death or disability caused by lack of sleep, including scenarios like death after working overtime or shopping online late at night, according to the Ping An app. The app shows that the insurance, currently priced at 27.5 yuan for one year (just under $4), has so far been purchased by nearly 8,000 people.
