Five people died and 18 were injured Thursday afternoon after a car drove into a group of children outside a primary school in Huludao city, Liaoning province, the semi-official China News Service reported today.
A witness told Beijing Youth Daily that the car was driving on the wrong side of the road when it suddenly hit a group of children who had almost finished crossing the street. Injured children were seen lying on the road after the car hit them. It’s not clear if all the victims are children.
It was reported that the driver of the Audi A6 attempted to run from the scene, but was caught by the police on his way. The incident is under investigation.
