China Railway launched its first electronic railway tickets Thursday on south China's island province of Hainan, the state-owned high-speed railroad operator announced on Wednesday.
The new tickets, which are in their trial period, feature QR codes that railway employees scan to admit passengers on board. They are especially advantageous to anyone who does not possess a form of ID accepted at railway ticketing machines.
It remains to be seen whether these tickets will be rolled out elsewhere in China.
