Police have identified a suspect surnamed Han after a car drove into a group of children outside a school in Huludao city, Liaoning, Thursday, killing five children and injuring 19, People's Daily reported Friday. The semi-official China News Service had initially reported that 18 were injured.
Police said the driver, aged 29, had a "narrow-minded and petty" personality and became "suicidal and world-weary" after recent conflicts with his wife. He allegedly drove into the group of children deliberately after picking them out randomly to be his victims, according to a county government announcement published by People's Daily.
