Japanese police have issued an arrest warrant for Chinese actor Jiang Jinfu after he admitted to abusing his girlfriend, the Global Times reported Wednesday, citing Japan's Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS).

Haruka Nakaura, a Japanese model, shared pictures of her badly bruised face and body on Instagram last week and mentioned Jiang, her boyfriend, in the comments of the post, which quickly went viral on the Chinese Internet. Jiang later apologized on Weibo, saying: “I'm ashamed of my actions and won't defend them in any way. I stand to bear the consequences for my behavior and accept the punishment.” (The photos can no longer be accessed.)

Nakaura later told TBS that the violence happened many times and was getting more severe, adding that one time two of her teeth were knocked out. One night, she thought she was going to be killed – Jiang physically abused her from midnight until she managed to escape in the morning, reporting the crimes to the police, who finally sent her to the hospital, she told the TV station. Hospital examinations determined Nakaura’s severe injuries would take longer than a month to heal.
