NetEase mobile game “The Day After Tomorrow” has unseated the mobile gaming industry’s reigning champions to become the most popular game in China in November, data tracked by IDC announced Monday.

“The Day After Tomorrow” is the first game to surpass Tencent’s leading games in nine months. From February through October, the gaming giant’s “Honor of Kings” and “PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds: Exhilarating Battlefield” took turns at No. 1 on the charts.

“The Day After Tomorrow” managed to attract players during a time of limited online game releases due to an ongoing government crackdown on the industry, IDC China games industry analyst Tan Rui told Caixin.

“Honor of Kings” has been so popular that it has stoked fears of internet addiction. It raked in nearly 2 billion yuan ($296 million) in revenue in a recent single quarter
