Malaysia Scraps Rail Deal With China Firm, Seeks Replacement

(Straits Times) — Malaysia is seeking a new contractor to build the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), after terminating the original contract awarded to China Communications Construction Co. (CCCC) yesterday, a source told The Straits Times.

It is understood that the government is seeking to halve the estimated project cost of 81 billion ringgit ($19.5 billion) to 40 billion ringgit.
