Chart of the Day: Xiaomi CEO’s Peerless Pay Packet
Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi Corp., may have received compensation worth over 330 times that handed to Tencent’s head last year, the company revealed.
Xiaomi did not put an exact figure on Lei’s remuneration package in its first annual report after going public, released on April 8, but said it might have been worth up to HK$15 billion ($1.91 billion).
A filing the company made to the Hong Kong bourse on April 10 said Lei received more than 636.6 million shares as a bonus last year. Based on the company’s share price at Tuesday close, that bonus would be worth around HK$7.5 billion. The bonus was in recognition to his “contributions to the company.”
