Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame," the comic book superhero, may have saved China's lackluster box office.
The weekly Chinese box office hit 2.3 billion yuan ($340 million) last week, surging 481% from the previous week, marking a record high performance since Spring Festival this year, industry data tracker EntGroup shows, thanks to the superhero movie, which contributed 95% of the total box office.
The blockbuster, the last chapter of Marvel's decade-long franchise series, showed a strong performance in ticket sales in the country even before it was released.
