Construction is underway on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou intercity railway, which will link Beijing’s Yanqing district with the Chongli district of Zhangjiakou, in neighboring Hebei. The high-speed train will be able to reach a maximum of 350 kph (217 mph), but the speed will be limited significantly in urban areas. It is expected to open this year, ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympics which will be held between the two cities.
