After years of reliance on Samsung for advanced OLED phone screens, Apple is in the final stages of testing the components from an additional supplier — China’s BOE Technology Group, Nikkei reports.
“Apple will decide by the end of this year whether to take on BOE as a supplier of its single most expensive component,” anonymous sources told Nikkei.
This would be a huge coup for the Chinese company and a blow to Samsung, which commands a 90% share globally of OLED sales.
