China’s leading new-energy vehicle (NEV) battery-maker Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) said Thursday it has inked a long-term strategic partnership with Bosch, the German multinational well known for automobile and other industrial solutions.
CATL will provide battery cells for Bosch’s 48-volt battery systems internationally, according to an official statement. Bosch executive Stefan Hartung said CATL’s professional lithium-ion technologies can consolidate Bosch’s advantages in 48-volt batteries and push forward the company’s development in electricity-powered transportation.
Amid a lithium bear market, CATL said it plans to became one of the largest shareholders of Australia’s lithium mining company Pilbara Minerals, to secure supply materials for the long run, the Australian Financial Review reported. In Germany, CATL is also constructing a factory to serve BMW and other local clients.
