Nasdaq-listed Chinese online lender LexinFintech has announced the appointment of information technology expert Lu Yong to the position of chief technology officer. The firm is looking to increase the use of big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence in its products and services.

“With him joining us as the chief technology officer, we are very confident that we will further enhance our market leading technology development capabilities,” said Xiao Wenjie, LexinFintech’s chairman and chief executive officer.

Lu previously served as chief technology officer at internet giant Sina and online language-training platform 51Talk, and most recently was the chief information officer of Ping An Life Insurance.

In the third quarter of 2020, LexinFintech’s net income dropped 52.4% year-on-year to 345 million yuan ($53 million) on revenue of 3.2 billion yuan, according to its latest earnings report.

The number of active users who used its loan products during the quarter surged to 7.4 million from 6.1 million in the same period of 2019, the financial report said.
