3. Adidas fined for alleged fire violations

4. Apple responds to Siri’s omission of China in Olympics medal count

Apple's official customer service (external source, in Chinese) said that an algorithmic logic problem caused the omission of China from its answers to queries about gold medals at the Olympics, after Chinese Apple users complained Wednesday that they couldn’t get the figures for China when asking Siri about the Olympics medal count.

5. Delta variant identified in Nanjing Covid-19 flare-up

Nanjing, the capital of East China’s Jiangsu province (external source, in Chinese), said Tuesday that the strain of the virus behind the cases has been identified as the highly infectious delta variant.

6. Inhalation vaccine after intramuscular vaccination boosts immunity, study says

8. Tokyo’s number of daily new Covid-19 cases exceeds 3,000 for first time

The number of people diagnosed with Covid-19 (external source, in Chinese) in Tokyo has exceeded 3,000 on a single day for the first time, Kyodo News reported Wednesday, citing government sources.

9. Two suspects arrested in the bombing of a bus carrying nine Chinese

Pakistani police (external source, in Chinese) have arrested two suspects Wednesday for the recent bombing of a shuttle bus in the northwest of the country that killed 13 people, including nine Chinese engineers.

10. China's new ambassador Qin Gang arrives in U.S.

China's eleventh ambassador to the U.S., Qin Gang, arrived in Washington on Wednesday. The 55-year-old former vice foreign minister will replace Cui Tiankai, who announced his departure last month.
