The recent flare-up of Covid-19 in Shanghai was effectively traced, and there were no hospital-acquired coronavirus infections, top infectious disease expert Zhang Wenhong said as news of service suspensions by several hospitals sparked fears the disease was spreading.

The outbreak in Shanghai is under control because of quick response measures, said Zhang, who is the director of China’s National Center of Infectious Diseases and director of the Infectious Diseases Department of Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University. Virus tracing in the city has been completed, Zhang said.
