Deadly Bridge Collapse May Have Been Caused by Overloaded Trucks

While the cause of a fatal highway bridge collapse in Central China over the weekend is still under investigation, some are suggesting it may have been caused by overloaded trucks, much like a similar incident two years ago.

A 500-meter section of a highway bridge collapsed Saturday afternoon in the Hubei province city of Ezhou. Three trucks driving across at the time tumbled from the bridge, and one car underneath was crushed, according to national broadcaster CCTV. The death toll stands at four, with eight others injured.
