Trio Suspected of Criminal Activity in Shackled Woman Case

After a video of a shackled woman shocked China, police have placed three people under “criminal enforcement measures” on suspicion of illegal detention and human trafficking, including her husband.

The brief Thursday statement (link in Chinese) from the information office of Xuzhou, a city in East China’s Jiangsu province, did not offer details on the criminal enforcement measures. They can include being taken into police custody and house arrest.
