India’s tax officials have raided offices of telecoms-equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and met with some of its staff as part of a tax evasion probe, the company confirmed to Caixin, in a move China alleges is part of a broader campaign by New Delhi targeting its firms.

The confirmation comes after several media outlets reported that Indian tax officials conducted searches at Huawei’s premises in New Delhi, neighboring Gurugram and the southern tech hub of Bengaluru, where they looked at the company’s financial documents, account books and materials related to its Indian businesses and overseas transactions.
