A member of China’s political advisory body is planning to submit a proposal for the upcoming ‘Two Sessions’ this year that highlights the needs to step up the crackdown on abducting, selling and buying women and children, as the case of a shackled woman suspected of being trafficked sparked outrage across the country.

In an interview with Caixin, Zhu Zhengfu, a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said that the country needs to come up with a comprehensive plan to tackle human trafficking, an entrenched problem in China.
