The president of China Merchants Bank Co. Ltd. (CMB), Tian Huiyu, has been removed from his position, and an executive vice president will “be in charge of” its business, the bank announced Monday.

The decision to remove Tian from his executive position and as a board member was made during a board meeting on the same day, according to the announcement. Fifteen of the 16 board members — all except Tian himself — attended the online meeting. The attending board members all voted to remove Tian and subject him to further assignment.
