Daily Covid cases in Shanghai are trending downwards once more, following a steep rebound last weekend. The latest decline reflects a five consecutive day slide toward under 10,000 cases, according to official data released Thursday.

The financial hub registered 1,292 local symptomatic and 9,330 local asymptomatic cases Wednesday, according to a statement (link in Chinese) from the municipal health commission. Of the new symptomatic patients, 858 had previously been reported as asymptomatic carriers, the statement said. This means the city added 9,764 local infections Wednesday, a 24-day low.
