China to Implement New Mobile App Rules

China’s cyberspace regulator issued new rules Tuesday requiring all information publishing and messaging mobile apps to serve only users with authenticated real-name identification starting Aug. 1.

The new rules governing mobile apps were revised and expanded from a previous version implemented in 2016 to adapt to the rapid development and widespread use of mobile apps, the Cyberspace Administration of China said.
