Huawei Seals Smart Car Deal With State-Owned Carmaker’s EV Brand

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. has deepened its partnership with a major state-owned automaker’s smart electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary with a new deal for its intelligent car system.
The move may shore up the telecoms-gear giant’s push into the auto industry as it tries to expand its revenue base after U.S. sanctions battered its smartphone business.
Under the agreement, which was announced on Saturday, all models under Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. Ltd.’s EV sub-brand Avatr will come with Huawei Inside, which equips vehicles with software functions including autonomous driving, as well as hardware including lidars, millimeter-wave radars and centralized control panels.
