Editorial: Promoting the Integration of Migrant Workers Into Cities

The National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China (NDRC) had recently unveiled the “Implementation Plan for New Urbanization During the 14th Five-Year Plan Period (2021-25),” henceforth referred to as the “Plan.” A primary task during this period is to grant permanent urban residency to people moving to cities from rural areas, and the cause has received much attention. The continuous efforts to deepen the reform of the household registration system institutionally underpins the completion of this task.
