What’s New: Indonesian President Joko Widodo will visit China from July 25 to 26 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, according to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, Widodo will hold talks with Xi and Premier Li Keqiang to have an in-depth exchange on bilateral relations and major regional and international issues, Wang Wenbin, a Foreign Ministry spokesman, said Thursday during a regular news briefing.

President Widodo will also communicate with Chinese leaders face-to-face regarding the G-20 Summit to discuss issues including global challenges, coordination among developing countries, and post-pandemic global economic development, according to Wang.

Background: Indonesia currently holds the G-20 presidency and will host this year's summit of leaders in Bali Nov. 15-16.

Widodo’s visit will be the first state visit by a foreign leader to China in two years aside from February's Winter Olympics.
