Trending in China: Nanjing Temple’s Commemoration of Japanese War Criminals Causes Uproar

A furore over the recent enshrining of memorial tablets belonging to Japanese war criminals at a local temple in Nanjing has led to one woman being detained, the temple abbot being dismissed and several religious officials being punished.
The tablets were first found in February, but got a lot of attention online in the wake of a Weibo post on Thursday.
