Pony.ai’s Self-Driving Cabs Hit the Streets in Beijing

Autonomous driving technology developer Pony.ai Inc. has partnered with ride-hailing platform Caocao to let passengers book robotaxis as part of a Beijing trial.

Passengers can now place orders via Caocao for Pony.ai’s self-driving taxi services in a designated 60-square-kilometer area of south suburban Beijing, according to a Tuesday statement (link in Chinese). The robotaxis also cannot pick up and drop off passengers wherever they want within that area; they can choose from 250 locations.
