Former Top Provincial Legislator Gets Suspended Death Sentence on Graft, Gun Charges

What’s new: Shi Wenqing, a former senior legislator in East China’s Jiangxi province, has been sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve by a local court for taking bribes worth around 195 million yuan ($29 million) and illegally owning firearms.
The Ningbo Intermediate People’s Court also decided to deny the former deputy director of the Standing Committee of Jiangxi Provincial People’s Congress of political rights for life and confiscated all his personal property, according to a statement (link in Chinese) published Tuesday.
