Hong Kong July Exports Plunge as Global Demand Cools

(Bloomberg) — Hong Kong’s exports plunged in July as disruptions along the border with the Chinese mainland and cooling demand across the global economy weighed on trade.
Exports fell 8.9% last month from a year earlier, the Census and Statistics Department said Thursday. That missed economists’ predictions for a 4.8% decrease and was the third consecutive month of declines. It was the worst export performance since March, when Covid lockdowns in China hurt the flow of goods.
