Opinion: Politburo’s ‘Four Dares’ Promise to Spur the Economy

China’s Politburo, the Communist Party’s top decision-making body, sent clear and strong signals at a Dec. 6 meeting that the country is shifting focus to economic recovery. The meeting, chaired by General Secretary Xi Jinping, fueled expectations for an economic rebound next year.

The party’s Central Committee schedules the annual Central Economic Work Conference at the end of each year to set major economic policies and the agenda for the coming year. Before that key meeting, the Politburo often sets the tone.
