China and U.S. Diplomats Discuss Taiwan During ‘In-Depth’ Talks

(Bloomberg) — China described its meeting with U.S. envoys that included discussions about Taiwan as “in-depth and constructive,” a sign Beijing and Washington are taking steps to cool tensions.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng met Sunday and Monday in China with Daniel Kritenbrink, the American assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, and Laura Rosenberger, the National Security Council senior director for China and Taiwan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular press briefing in Beijing.
