In September 2022, an earthquake hit Luding in China’s southwest Sichuan province. Zhu Yicun, director of disaster relief and project management department at the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD), had made a preliminary assessment and determined that the quake’s impact would not likely be as serious given that residential areas seemed to have been spared.
