The recent death of a young woman who committed suicide after suffering six months of online bullying for her pink hair was met with outrage on the Chinese Twitter-like platform Weibo.

The 24-year-old Zheng Linghua became a target of cyberbullying in July after she posted photos on the lifestyle app Xiaohongshu sharing her admission letter to graduate school with her hospitalized grandfather. She has pink hair in the photos.
