Shanghai Police Bust Gang That Conned Firms With Fake Employees

A total of 53 people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a gang that conned businesses out of more than 50 million yuan ($7.3 million) in wages, Shanghai police announced on Thursday.

The alleged scammers dressed up job applicants’ education and work background to get them hired by multiple companies, sometimes simultaneously, and then the new hires would collect their salaries without doing any work, according to a police press release.
