China-New Zealand Ties Will Continue to ‘Grow and Mature,’ Island Nation’s Top Diplomat Says

New Zealand’s relationship with China is continuing to strengthen and mature, the Pacific Island nation’s foreign minister told Caixin, as the two sides seek further cooperation in areas such as climate change and agriculture amid heightened geopolitical tensions.

During Nanaia Mahuta’s visit to China from March 22 to March 25, she met with the country’s top diplomat Wang Yi and her counterpart Qin Gang. The trip marked the first visit to Beijing by a New Zealand minister since 2019.
