At least five party officials from Qinghai province in Northwest China have been punished by national graft busters for violating the party’s frugality code, in an incident where one cadre died after a gathering where six people drank seven bottles of liquor.
Shi Cunwu, secretary-general of the provincial party group, was expelled from the party and dismissed from public office, while four other party members serving in various positions were removed from their roles, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said in a statement published late Thursday.
