There’s no denying China’s ambitions to become an AI superpower. In 2015, AI-backed technologies, among many others, were identified as a new engine of future growth in the “Made in China 2025” plan, drawing in companies, talent, researchers and investors that had the foresight to capitalize on the emerging technology. And now, with the success of OpenAI, a new gold rush has emerged.
