Chinese Minors Suspected of Aiding Telecom, Online Fraudsters Surge Twentyfold

The number of Chinese minors suspected of helping others commit telecom or online fraud and other criminal activities based on information networks jumped more than twentyfold from 2020 to 2022, according to the country’s top prosecutor, despite the government’s ongoing efforts to combat such crimes.

The number of juveniles suspected of committing the crime of “aiding criminal activities on information networks” surged to nearly 5,500 last year from 236 in 2020, according to a white paper published by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) on Thursday.
