U.S. Targets China's Supercomputing, Aviation Industries in New Blacklist

What’s new: The U.S. Commerce Department added 31 Chinese companies and entities to an export control list Monday, citing their alleged ties to the Chinese military and to human rights issues.
Shanghai Supercomputing Technology Co. Ltd. was added for offering cloud-based supercomputing capabilities to support China’s hypersonic research.
Aviation Industry Corp. of China 612 Institute and several aviation firms were added for seeking U.S. products to help Beijing’s military modernization, with ties to activities including design and manufacturing of air-to-air missiles and developing hypersonic weapons.
