Beijing is baking during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday as the city recorded its highest June temperature amid heatwaves sweeping the vast regions of northern China

A weather station in the capital’s southern suburbs, a main gauge, recorded 41.1°C (106° Fahrenheit) at 3:19 p.m. Thursday, the highest June reading by the station. It was also the second highest temperature in the station’s records, after 41.9°C logged on July 24, 1999, according to Min Yuqiu, an analyst at the weather.com.cn, an information portal of China Meteorological Administration (CMA).
